Dancing, Birding, and Women Composers came to Unalaska this past weekend as the Aleutian Arts Council welcomed Laura Dean as their guest performer for their annual Just Desserts classical music concert. Ms. Dean, from the Seattle area has been performing her “Across the Borders” program throughout the United States and Mexico, and the AAC was thrilled to welcome her and her program to the community. Ms. Dean held workshops in the schools during her visit and a dance workshop for the PCR 360/Youth Recreation program as well. Her visit culminated in an amazing performance at the Unalaska Methodist Church, incorporating beautiful piano compositions, amazing photography, and some interesting history of the composers in her program. 

Ms. Dean was such a good sport that she even hosted an episode of Flash! Unalaska with Aleutian Arts Council Board President, Kelly Stiles! The Aleutian Arts Council would like to thank Ms. Dean for her hard work; Unalaska City School District; the City of Unalaska; and the community for welcoming Laura Dean and making her experience in the community one to remember!
