Ballyhoo Lions Club Duck Races Make Successful Splashes on Fourth of July
Tuesday, July 07 2015
Unalaska’s Ballyhoo Lions Club held successful July 4th duck races. The Little Yellow Duck races of 600 ducks floated down Iliuliuk River Saturday afternoon, after the town's Fourth of July Parade. A limited number of corporate ducks were purchased by various companies and were decorated by their staff and representatives. These 40 ducks were judged on two themes: Corporate and July 4th. They were the third and final heat. The decorated corporate ducks made for a colorful race down the river. The races had a great turn out, with local residents and visitors enjoyed all of the 4tn of July activities.
The Ballyhoo Lions will use the profits from the Duck Races ticket sales to help fund College Scholarships and other activities that benefit the residents of Unalaska.
