Ballyhoo Lions Club's Easter Breakfast Raises Funds for Community Projects
Tuesday, April 07 2015
The Ballyhoo Lions Club held their annual Easter Breakfast on Saturday, April 4 at the UCSD high school small gym. This is their main fundraising event of the year. They solicit donations for food, prizes, Easter baskets, and gifts. Breakfast is provided free of charge, but donations are accepted. This year, the Lions raised $3,800 from the steady flow of more than 200 people who attended the event and generously donated. The Ballyhoo Lions Club will use funds for various projects including scholarship awards, installing benches and garbage cans around town, constructing and maintaining school bus shelters, Operation Santa, and general assistance to people in need. Frank Kelty, President of the Ballyhoo Lions Club, encourages more local participation with this important community service organization. He says that interested individuals should attend a meeting, or chat with a Lions Club member about joining. The Ballyhoo Lions Club meets for lunch on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Cape Cheerful Lounge in the Grand Aleutian Hotel.
