This year, more Alaskans than ever donated a record amount to Alaska's nonprofits, according to Pick.Click.Give.  While applying for the yearly Permanent Fund Dividend, individuals had an opportunity to donate funds to a variety of organizations in their own communities and around the state.  These statistics were recently announced:

  • $2,771,400 was donated (13% growth over 2013)
  • $104 average per donor (up from $94 in 2013)
  • 26,773 donors gave

Locally, the Alaska State Firefighters Association received $3125.00, Unalaskans Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence, $1475.00, and Unalaska Community Broadcasting, $850.  Each organization will receive a check when PFDs come out in the fall.

USAFV's Executive Director M. Lynn Crane stated, "We might use these unencumbered funds to pay for up to a week of shelter nights for someone without other safe shelter, to buy food for our shelter food pantry, or to pay for several months’ worth of shelter utilities."

Just in case you did not know about Pick.Click.Give, it's not too late!  You have till August 31 to add a donation or change the amount of your donation. Just log back into your PFD application and look for Pick.Click.Give.  Ten lucky Alaskans will also win a second dividend!

Unalaska Community Broadcasting would like to thank everyone who included us in their Pick.Click.Give donations this year.  We appreciate your generosity!
