The Unalaska Raider Volleyball Team is heading to Anchorage on Wednesday to play in the Lumen Christi Tournament. They will be competing against teams in their region, along with state contenders. The Unalaska Raiders will face Dillingham Wolverines on Thursday and will have five conference matchers on Friday against Lumen, Birchwood, Holy Rosary, Ninilchik and Wasilla Lake. Saturday is a bracketed double elimination tournament.
Julie Herman is the head coach and she says she's grateful to Coach Wood and Coach Heimes for working and training the high school and junior high team. She says, "they are both great coaches and dedicated to the sport." Herman is also proud of her team. She says, “We are really excited for the upcoming volleyball season. The girls have worked hard in the off season and at practice to enhance their skills. We have high hopes for a very competitive season."
Nine players will be travelling on this trip: Louisa Seman, Kanesia Price, Kaye Gumera, Marina Olsen, Reanna Marquez, Kiecel Tungul, Alyssa Roxas, Christian Escalante and Mandy Magnusen. Results from the tournament will be shared next week.
Good Luck, Raiders!
