Tuesday, November 19 2013
The Unalaska Raiders volleyball teams hosted their 4th annual Crab Pot Tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 15th and 16th. Eight teams participated including five junior high and high school girls teams, a high school boys team, a teacher team, and a community team. Friday afternoon and evening consisted of Pool Play to seed all the teams for the tournament on Saturday. All athletes played hard but it all came down to the final championship game between the Unalaska Varsity team and the teacher team. The Varsity girls took the victory in the final set against the teachers.
Saturday evening was also the Senior Night for seven of the Raiders who were recognized along with their families. Coach Julie Heard said, “It has been a wonderful season with them and they will all be greatly missed next year.” The team would like to send out a special thanks to all of the volunteers, participants, and community members who gave their time and support over the weekend.
The Junior High and Junior Varsity teams will play their final games on Friday, November 22nd at the high school, while the Varsity team will travel to compete in the C.I.A. tournament in Kenai. Good luck and GO RAIDERS!
