Sarah Peacock Visits Unalaska
Thursday, September 04 2014
It takes a village, and many people contributed to the Hearts and Hands sponsored concert that rocked Unalaska on Friday, August 29. Nashville’s Sarah Peacock is a rising star whose original country rock songs have been winning national awards and propelling her on a grueling national tour. She visited Unalaska briefly in February and returned this week with Josh Daubin on djembe. Together they performed an assembly for Eagle’s View Elementary School and held workshops for Unalaska’s aspiring musicians.
Friday night’s concert at the United Methodist Church performance hall was standing room only, and the original country rock was peppered with a few surprising and brilliant arrangements such as “Billy Jean.” The concert was sponsored and coordinated by the Hearts and Hands Project, with a tremendous amount of help from PCR’s Stephanie Laut, The Aleutian Arts Council, the “Sarah Peacock Posse” (friends of Peacock), and generous business and personal financial contributors.
