Hello! My name is Tammy Fowler Pound and I am running for Seat A of the Unalaska City School Board of Education.

Along with my husband Jack, I am the proud parent of two young adults, Jackson and Rosie, who attended UCSD from preschool through 12th grade. Mary, our youngest, has also attended UCSD starting with preschool, and recently entered high school this fall. I believe my kids have received an excellent education at UCSD because of the superior quality of staff and teachers, continuous updating of the district’s strategic plan, a mission and vision oriented school board dedicated “To Provide An Exemplary Education”, and a community of strong support.

Previously, I served on the UCSD Board of Education from January 2000 through February 2014, at which time I resigned to go out of state to help care for my terminally ill mother. My past experience includes:

1. UCSD Board President 2001-2013
2. Board member with the Association of Alaska School Boards 2006-2012
3. Served as Secretary, President-Elect, President, and Past President of the Association of Alaska School Boards 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
4. Association of Alaska School Board’s Board Member of the Year 2011
5. Association of Alaska School Board’s School Board of the Year Award 2006, 2012
6. Various committees (budget, long range planning, curriculum, etc.)
7. Advocate for educational needs in Juneau

I have loved being a part of this community since 1983, choosing to get married, make a home, and raise a family here. I would be honored to once again serve this community and the Unalaska City School District, and ask for your vote on October 6^th.
