Tundra Golf Raises Funds for UCB

Monday, August 11 2014

Sixteen teams came out for the annual Aleutian Tundra Golf Classic on August 9 and 10.  This was a fundraiser for Unalaska Community Broadcasting and the event brought in more than $10,000. Tournament scoring is based on the honor system and scorecards turned in by participating teams.  Iquique won the tournament at 11 under par.  Harbor Welding and North Pacific Fuel tied for second at 8 under par.  Bong Tungul won the Closest to the Pin contest with a hit four feet from the pin.  He gets a monogrammed green jacket. Longest Drive was a split-the-pot competition and the winner was Lee Constanti with a 290 yard drive.  He took home 70 dollars.

This event was made possible by: APL, Alaska Ship Supply, Alaska Vessel Agents, Alyeska Seafoods, Coastal Transportation, Delta Western, Harbor Welding, Horizon Lines, Iquique US, LLC, Norwegian Rat Saloon, Ounalashka Corporation, OSI, Pac Steve, Red Fish Electronics, UniSea, Kloosterboer, and North Pacific Fuel.  THANKS for your generosity!  We are also grateful to the Ounalashka Corporation for the use of their lands, our Board of Directors for their planning and preliminary work, and event volunteers Kelly, Rose, Matt, Mark, Celeste, and Shari. ASFA cooked up chili dogs at the concessions stand, and hungry golfers couldn’t have played the full course without the sustenance.    Be sure to check out photo albums of Saturday and Sunday golfing on our Facebook page.
