KUCB/UCSD Class of 2014

Unalaska City School District held its annual graduation commencement exercises on Saturday, May 17th. The graduating class of 2014 had 33 graduates who over the previous years have worked hard to fulfill both the state and local graduation requirements. Jessica Andersen was honored as the class valedictorian and Tommy Nguyen as the salutatorian. Mr. Jeff Dickrell served as the commencement speaker. His message to the students was the importance of family and how the school, fellow students, and community members serve as extended family to each of them and will be there to support them when needed. Mr. Dickrell’s lasting piece of advice to the graduating seniors was to make their families, both blood and extended, proud as they move forward in life. Following the commencement speech the graduating seniors were presented with scholarships in excess of $600,000. The continued generosity by local business, corporations, and individuals is greatly appreciated by students and families alike. The evening culminated with the presentation of diplomas to the graduating seniors by Superintendent John Conwell and the UCSD school board. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2014 and good luck in the pursuit of your dreams.
