Student of the Week for October 20-24, 2014

The Principal's Pick for Student of the Week is Melly Napper for the following reasons:

Always an enthusiastic and fully engaged student, Melly makes a habit-an excellent habit-of connecting the world of academia with what she reads, sees, and hears outside of her classes. Her obvious love of learning will, no doubt, ensure that she makes the most out of every opportunity life throws her way. In addition, Melly is broadening her horizons through active participation in this year’s Tsunami Bowl Club, and is fearlessly taking on a leadership role in that new endeavor, which is most impressive. – Ms. Rudio, English Teacher

Melly is an outstanding student who has made efforts this year to increase her leadership throughout the school and be a positive contributor to our school climate. She is active in a variety of clubs and sports and has become a leader for each of these activities. Most recently she has volunteered her time to help a younger student with homework as an after school tutor. Melly has made great strides over her time in high school and has clearly become a role model for younger students at UCSD. Great job Melly and thank you for your positive leadership throughout the school this year.  – Mr. Wilson, Principal

Melly is starting to emerge as an outstanding student and individual. She is really starting to come out of her shell and is learning what it means to not only be a leader but a great student. Melly is showing she can balance a very busy schedule, juggling work, sports, clubs and academics. From what I have seen, Melly has always been a high achieving individual, but it is nice to see her start to push herself in so many new ways. Keep striving to be better Melly and good things will happen for you.  – Mr. Gibson, Chemistry Teacher, XC Coach, and Tsunami Bowl Coach

Melly has been a fabulous teacher’s assistant so far this year. She is respectful, diligent, and very professional, making her an excellent role model for my class of junior high students. She not only takes her work as an assistant seriously, but she has begun to provide feedback and suggestions for the eighth grade writers. She is becoming an important influence as a mentor, while simultaneously being an instrumental aide. Great job, Melly! –Ms. Purevsuren, 7-9 English

Amelia is the daughter of Edilmira Cortez and Timothy Napper.
