The High School Department selected Isaac as Student of the Week (September 21-25) for the following reasons:

Isaac has done a great job of getting the school year off to a good start. I have been very impressed with his work ethic this year and how seriously he has been taking his academic performance. He asks great questions in class, demonstrating that he is not only learning the material but engaging it at a deep level that requires serious thought and commitment. Keep up the good work, Mr. Guge!

Isaac has been recognized by his Marine biology and Biology II teacher as student of the week because he has begun to take responsibility for his academic progress by leaps and bounds. Isaac definitely thinks outside the box and has a very unique and increasingly successful approach to mastering his academic subjects. Isaac's questioning and critical thinking are important parts of his learning style and helps to engage and drive classroom discussions.

Whether he is spending five hours on a Monday night painting a mural for Art Club, is pushing himself to experiment with new techniques and mediums in class, or engaging in heated art-related debates with Liam Anderson in the studio at lunch, Isaac has proved himself to be an incredibly dedicated student. He possesses those essential traits found in every life-long learner: persistence, self-motivation, and an innate sense of curiosity. These qualities will serve him well in whatever field he chooses to pursue in the future. For now, we’re lucky to have him at UCS. Well done, Isaac!

Isaac is the son of Phillip & Donia Guge.
