JJ Fernandez

February 17th –21st

The Principal’s Pick for Student of the Week is Joey “JJ” Fernandez for the following reasons:

  • JJ is an all-around great person in our school and community. He is very dedicated to whatever he does and always puts his full effort into everything. He continues to challenge himself and fight through adversity; and is never willing to give up. JJ continues to be involved in a lot and is looked at by his peers to be an outstanding role model. Keep up all the hard work and dedication JJ, in the end in will pay off. –Mr. Gibson, Physics Teacher
  • JJ regularly churns out quality work in the classroom and is one of the first to seek help whenever he may need it. I have had the privilege of watching JJ lead both in the classroom and in the gym this year and have been impressed with his maturity and consistently upbeat attitude. Along with being a leader among his peers, JJ also strives to set an example for the scores of youth in the community who look to him and see a model student athlete. JJ's ability to persevere through a devastating injury and work to return to the court is a testament to what he can accomplish with his discipline and wise-beyond-his-years maturity. –Coach Herring
  • JJ is an outstanding student and role model in our school and community. He has challenged himself with the most difficult classes our school has to offer and has performed admirably in each of these. In addition to being an outstanding student, JJ serves as a mentor for younger students in our community through his involvement in a variety of afterschool activities. It is a common occurrence to see JJ coaching a youth team or running the score clock on any given weekend. This year JJ has persevered through tremendous adversity to remain strong and committed to his schoolwork and involvement in student activities. Great job JJ and stay strong. –Mr. Wilson, Principal

JJ is the son of Joey and Minnie Fernandez.
