Alaska Airlines Opens Up Holiday Bookings for Unalaskans

Thursday, October 10 2013
Alaska Airlines has opened its holiday travel program for Unalaskans. The "Return Home From the Holidays" local access program is now offering extra seats on January 5 and January 6, timed to coincide with the end of winter vacation at Unalaska schools.
Tickets are available through Alaska Airlines' seafood desk or through local travel agencies. Either way, customers will need to provide a mileage number, to confirm their Unalaska residency.
That's because program is specifically designed to serve locals who are trying to get home from holiday vacations in early January -- the same time that large numbers of processing employees are flying in for the start of the fishing A season.

I have an idea: why don't they actually fill up the plane instead of flying out with 8 empty seats and putting people on standby because the plane is "full"?

This is very nice, and hope this opportunity provides the back-to-home travel convenience for Unalaskans!
