APL crane up and running

Unalaska, AK – The American President Lines crane is finally operative. A cargo vessel offloaded at the dock this afternoon.
The old APL crane went down during a storm in December of 2009. While the replacement crane arrived in August, it wasn't powered until April 1, according to APL spokesperson Mike Zampa. APL spent then spent this month testing the crane and awaiting certification.
While APL was without a crane, the company used the crane at the Unalaska Marine Center, providing the city with additional revenue to the now lagging ports fund.
