Unalaska, AK – Yesterday, state troopers recovered the body of a 48-year-old helicopter pilot, who died in a crash on Saturday. Lonnie Kennedy had just dropped off two passengers and was attempting to take off from Chernofski Point when the helicopter skid caught the ground.

Weather had previously prevented state troopers from making it out to the crash site, but a recovery team was able to arrive there at 3pm yesterday.

"The weather cooperated enough for us to get out there, and the trooper was able to do the body recovery," says state trooper spokesperson Megan Peters.

The National Transportation Safety Board is now investigating the crash.
