Unalaska, AK – A man who was arrested in October after allegedly fracturing another man's skull in a bar fight was in court today over bribery charges stemming from the incident.
According to court documents, Joshua Trueblood called one of the witnesses of the October 22 beating 16 days after the incident, and tried to convince her to change her story. Trueblood told the witness he was facing 10 years in jail, and when she still refused, he offered her $500 to change her testimony, according to police reports. The witness reported the call to Public Safety officers. She called Trueblood back with officers recording the conversation, a call in which Trueblood gave her instructions on how to get the money, according to the report.
Trueblood was already facing charges of second-degree assault, and had pre-indictment hearings for both today. He's being held at the Public Safety Department's facilities in lieu of $5000 bail.
On October 22, Trueblood allegedly attacked Steven Evans in front of the UniSea Sports Bar after a related fight inside the bar. Evans suffered a fractured skull and broken nose, among other injuries, and had to be flown to Anchorage for treatment.
