Public Safety officers were called to the scene of a car crash on Ballyhoo Road around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. Deputy Chief Mike Holman says that Swan Taxi driver Hien Tran allegedly crashed one of the company’s vehicles into two parked cars. No one was injured, but the taxi and one of the parked cars were totalled, adding up to an estimated $10,000 in damages. Tran has been summoned to court and may face charges for reckless driving.
OMG!!!! on Sunday, September 15 2013:
The are many areas of concern here, and it has nothing to do with race. The driver, how has been mentioned in the police blotter several time before for vehicle issues, is still allowed to drive, why?? This is a person who should not be driving period...
Why is public safety not watching the 18 wheelers, dump trucks, taxi's etc. a bit closer. These are the drivers who should not be driving.

Blaming foreign drivers is ignorant and frankly unappealing and stupid. It does not address the issue of public safety, and does nothing to promote safety amongst all drivers. I'm fairly certain there is a requirement that one has a valid driver's license for a two year period of time before one applies for the chauffeur's license. At least look into the facts before you spout your xenophobic remarks, I'm ashamed of you whoever said this.

Sad that most of the cab drivers are crazy drivers but I do have to say the person giving the test doesn't just give anybody a license so if they were driving good when the test was given then turned into a crazy driver that's not the DMV ladies fault! Maybe the police should pullover the crazy drivers more often then there wouldn't be as many out there if they were ticketed or pulled over more often! Just a thought :)
dangerous and unfriendly town to walk and bicyle in on Friday, August 30 2013:
One problem with this town now is time first and safety second. Not only taxis do not drive safely. Cars, dump trucks, 18 wheelers, etc do not understand basic speed law. And also have the habit of yak yak on their cell phones.
To City Council; please look into lowering the speed limit from 30 to 25 from the big bridge to school. Vehicles going around the corner or down those hills can not stop in time. And please put a cross walk at Unalaska Town Park. That is a very popular park. Unalaska is a family town.

Swan Taxi is the worst. When I see one of their cabs I give it a lot of room. Since they don't know how to drive maybe they could get off the phone once in a while?

Dutch Harbor/ Unalaska - the only town where you can get the answers to the chauffeurs license exam because the multiple choice answers have not changed in 10 years.....then immediately be responsible for transporting people within a week of arriving from a foreign country where you never even had a drivers license....at least most of these drivers have learned to drive on the right side of the road instead of the left....but when in doubt drive right down the middle - haha
