Unalaska, AK – Tonight, City Council will meet to discuss the comprehensive plan and the city budget.

The meeting will open with a public hearing on a budget ordinance. The ordinance would create a second amendment to the Fiscal Year 2011 budget in order to transfer funds from the sales tax fund to the general fund and increase funding for capital improvements and maintenance. Council will then vote on that ordinance during the unfinished business portion of the meeting.

Council will then open the work session with a presentation on the comprehensive plan, and then it will hear a fisheries update from resource analyst Frank Kelty. Council will also discuss the Fiscal Year 2012 community support guidelines.

There are four items on the consent agenda. One resolution would establish a property tax collection date for Fiscal Year 2012. Another resolution would authorize the formation of the Fiscal Year 2012 community support committee. A third resolution would approve the appointment of Mandy Anderson to the Library Advisory Committee. The last resolution on the consent agenda would authorize the city to sell its surplus personal property.

There are also four items of new business. An ordinance that would allow the adoption of the comprehensive plan will have a first reading. One resolution would make electric utility funding assistance available to Catherine and Marcelo Fernandez. Another resolution would adopt guidelines for the community support program. The last resolution being considered tonight would refuse the renewal of the liquor license previously held by Peking restaurant.

The meeting will take place in city hall chambers and is expected to last one hour and 45 minutes.
