Copper River Seafoods and Siu Alaska Corporation team up to buy processing plant in Dutch Harbor

Unalaska, AK – The Harbor Crown processing plant is now the Bering Star Fisheries plant. Last week, the Siu Alaska Corporation and Copper River Seafoods teamed up to buy the six-building, seven-acre property, jointly operating as Dutch Harbor Acquisitions.
Scott Blake is the president of Copper River Seafoods, and he says that his company has long wanted to establish a presence in Unalaska. He expects the processing plant to be operational by January after repairs are made to the facility.
"I think the biggest thing is that this is a solely Alaskan-owned corporation," says Blake. "Between Copper River Seafoods and Siu, it's owned and controlled by Alaskan companies."
The property had been appraised at $4.8 million. Harbor Crown had filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy in September. By December, the financial company Alaska Growth Capital had foreclosed on the seafood facility. Bids on the property were accepted during the month of June, and the purchase was made official on August 4.
