Council to discuss bonds, lobbying trip

Unalaska, AK – Tonight, city council is convening to bond-issues as well as a lobbying trip to Washington.

The first item on the agenda concerns the designation of the Aleutians West area as a recovery zone. This would enable the issuance of recovery zone economic development bonds and recovery zone facility bonds.

The council will then discuss issuing and selling a series of electric utility revenue bonds that would help finance improvements to the city's electrical infrastructure.

Also on the agenda is discussion of a matching grant of $300,000 from the Alaska Clean Water Action to help pay for the installation of sediment separators into the city's storm water collection system.

Lastly, council will discuss a lobbying trip to Washington, tentatively planned for September.

In addition to introducing this new business, the council meeting will include the swearing in of Chris Honan as a new police officer.

City Council will be meeting at 7:00 pm in City Hall.
