Council to discuss zoning issues

Tuesday, November 09 2010
Unalaska, AK – Tonight, city council will meet to consider zoning rules and the Horizon Preferential Use Agreement.
The work session will open with a discussion of the Fiscal Year 2012 budget and the Capital and Major Maintenance Plan calendar.
On the consent agenda, there is a resolution that would appoint Teresa Hennings as student representative to the Park Culture & Recreation advisory committee.
There are four items of new business. First, the council will consider a resolution that would allow City Manager Chris Hladick to reenter into a preferential use agreement with Horizon Lines. The previous agreement expired on October 2, and the new agreement would go into effect from that date to October 2, 2013.
Next, they will address an ordinance that would change the zoning classification of parcel of land at Devilfish Point from a holding zone to an unzoned Native allotment.
The third item on the agenda concerns municipal travel. The mayor and council will discuss a trip to Anchorage for the North Pacific Fishery Management Council meeting next month. The meeting will last from December 6-13.
Finally, council will wrap up by meeting in executive session to discuss the national pollutant discharge elimination system.
Council will convene at 7pm in the City Hall chambers. The meeting is expected to last one hour and 15 minutes.
