Council to Hold Special Meeting for Sewer Contract

Thursday, May 29 2014
City council will meet at noon today to vote on a $923,000 contract with Northern Alaska Contractors.
According to a resolution to approve the contract, Northern Alaska was the lowest of three responsive bidders to replace World War II-era storm drainage on Delta Way and update Unalaska’s sewer main -- raising manholes, and installing several hundred feet of wider iron pipe.
The contract was left off of council’s agenda at its regular meeting on Tuesday night.
This is one of council’s last opportunities to address unfinished business before several councilors are scheduled to leave town. Council is not expected to have a quorum again for a regular city council meeting until July 8.
