Driver in Overland Pass accident charged with two felonies

Unalaska, AK – The driver in yesterday's Summer Bay Lake accident has been charged with seven criminal counts.

Robert Farris, 19, appeared in court this morning and was charged with two counts of assault, both felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license, failing to report an accident, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The accident occurred early yesterday morning, and took place off Overland Pass. According to the Department of Public Safety, the pickup truck went off the road, went airborne, and flipped twice. While substantial damage was done to the vehicle, Farris and the two unnamed passengers - both minors - only suffered minor injuries.

The accident was reported by the parents of one of the passengers.
