Fisherman Dies After Medical Crisis At Sea

An Unalaska-based fishing vessel lost a crew member this week after a medical emergency on the water.
Jonathan Brown, 44, of Colorado, was working on the F/V Cynosure Wednesday morning when he started showing symptoms from an existing health condition.
The crew took Brown to Atka for treatment at the local clinic. Within a half hour of arriving, Brown had passed away.
The Alaska State Troopers have arranged for an autopsy. But as trooper spokeswoman Beth Ipsen wrote in an email Friday, they don't suspect foul play.
"Everything points to this being a medical issue," Ipsen wrote.
Brown's family has been notified, and a relative says they're planning a memorial service in the coming weeks. Brown's captain and fellow crew members couldn't be reached for comment on Friday.
The Cynosure is a 58-foot longliner. The vessel fishes for halibut, Pacific cod and sablefish throughout the western Aleutian Islands.
