F/V Capt'n Andrew remains grounded

Unalaska, AK – The F/V Capt'n Andrew remains grounded near King Cove, despite earlier reports to the contrary.
The Capt'n Andrew is still stuck on Bold Cape, and Magone Marine Services currently has salvers on scene working to recover the vessel. Almost a thousand gallons of diesel fuel has been recovered from the starboard tank, and the salvers are now trying to recover the fuel from port tank. Here's Coast Guard Petty Officer Sara Francis.
"They're going to work on removing that, as weather- and sea-state allow," says Francis. "They'll also have to deal with the catch of Pacific cod that remains in the cargo hold."
The 58-foot seiner was carrying approximately 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel when it grounded on Sunday. While a light sheen was seen on the water earlier in the week, that sheen has since dissipated and the Coast Guard has no plans for spill clean-up.
On Tuesday, the Coast Guard erroneously reported that Magone's had successfully removed the Capt'n Andrew from the rocks, just two days after its five-member crew had been rescued by the F/V Just In Case. The cause of the grounding is still under investigation.
