Home Victory for Raiders Against Nikolaevsk

Local fans packed the Unalaska City School gymnasium this weekend for a rare set of Raider home games.

On Friday night, the boys basketball team destroyed the Nikolaevsk Warriors. The Raiders started strong and then maintained a wide lead through the game, beating the Warriors 82 to 25. Andrew Seman was the game’s high scorer, with 24 points. On Saturday, the Warriors had to forfeit to the Raiders due to two injuries on their team. The two schools then scrimmaged, with some Raider players joining the Warriors to boost their numbers. The Unalaska team beat the combined team 69 to 38. Andrew Seman was again the top scorer, with 27 points.

The Lady Raiders played two close games against Nikolaevsk. The Nikolaevsk girls team maintained their early lead throughout the Friday match, and ended up beating Unalaska 46 to 38. Cassandra Morrisett was the high scorer, with 13 points. On Saturday, the Lady Raiders played an even closer game. The Unalaska girls led during the first quarter, but the Nikolaevsk girls took control of the game by the end of the first half and stayed on top through the end. The final score 42 to 39, Lady Warriors. Claudine Tungul was the top scorer, with 12 points.

This weekend, the Unalaska basketball teams will compete in the Kotzebue Classic tournament in Anchorage.
