Jury Selection Begins in Sexual Abuse Trial

Tuesday, November 05 2013

Jury selection is underway in the trial of a local fishing captain, who’s accused of sexually assaulting his young daughters.

Michel Bain, 39, allegedly abused his two biological daughters between 2006 and 2008. During that period, the girls were living with their father in Unalaska.

The trial is expected to begin later this week. Bain faces five felony charges for first degree sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, involving penetration. He's also charged with two counts of incest and one count of second-degree sexual assault of a victim under 13.

At the time of his arrest in March 2011, Bain was the captain of the Cascade Mariner. He made bail shortly after and has been out of custody ever since.
