Kelty, Tungul, Pound Ahead In Vote Count

According to the preliminary count listed on the ballot box ticker tape Tuesday night just after 8 p.m., Frank Kelty is in the lead for City Council Seat G with 158 votes. His opponent John Waldron received 112 votes. There were four votes for write-in candidates.

City Clerk Cat Hazen says are still 28 absentee ballots left to be counted. Hazen said she plans to open and count those absentee ballots on Friday at ten a.m. 

Alejandro “Bong” Tungul received 211 votes for Council Seat F. He ran unopposed. 35 people voted for their choice of write-in Seat F candidates.

In the race for Unalaska City School Board Seat A, Tammy Fowler Pound received 245 votes. Frank Kelty received 235 votes for Seat C. Both candidates ran unopposed. There were 14 write-in votes for Seat A and 13 for Seats C.

One ballot was questioned, said Hazen, and will be verified or invalidated in the coming days.

A total of 279 voters cast their ballot at City Hall yesterday.
