Unalaska, AK – A Kodiak man is serving a brief jail sentence after stealing a truck in Unalaska in September.

Kalen Little, 21, pled no contest to first degree vehicle theft in Unalaska's District Court, and was sentenced to 100 days in the Kodiak Jail with 90 days' credit for time served, plus three years' probation and a $1,000 fine with $750 suspended. Little, who was underage at the time of the theft, was also charged with minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol and minor in possession of alcohol, both of which were dismissed.

According to the police report, Little and passenger Joshua Wilson, 20, also of Kodiak, fled on foot from a Public Safety Department officer after they were stopped at about 1 a.m. on Captains Bay Road while driving a 1995 Chevy pickup belonging to Larry Shaishnikoff. Wilson was found hiding in an abandoned barge on the beach alongside the road, and Little was found later in his room at the Grand Aleutian Hotel. The two men had been drinking in their room before stealing the truck, according to the report.

Charges of vehicle theft and criminal mischief filed against Wilson were dropped after he pled guilty to minor consuming alcohol, for which he was sentenced to a $1,000 fine, a suspended license and 48 hours of community service.
