Man stabbed during drunken altercation on fishing boat

Unalaska, AK – A man was charged with a felony stabbing a fellow crew member early Thursday morning. Public Safety Officers reported to a call from the F/V Clipper Surprise at the OSI dock with reports that a man had been stabbed. Upon arrival they spoke to a man who had blood dripping from a shirt that was tied around his neck. He said he did not remember being involved in an altercation and would not tell officers anything else.
A fellow crewmember said many of the crew had been drinking for the past 11 hours. Eventually the victim began arguing with Manuel Membreno, who lives in Washington state. The men moved their argument from the state room out to the hallway and a crew member witnessed Membreno pull out his three inch Victornix knife from his pants pocket and stab the victim in the neck.
Membreno said that the other man had grabbed him by the neck and other crew members separated them. He denied stabbing the victim.
Membreno was charged with a class a felony - assault one for recklessly causing serious physical injury to another person by means of a dangerous instrument.
The victim was treated at the clinic.
