Moses may run as a write-in candidate

Unalaska, AK – In a last-ditch effort to keep his House seat, Representative Carl Moses of Unalaska may run as a write-in candidate in next month's general election.
Moses says he's planning on making an announcement Thursday night about whether or not he's going to run against Republican candidate Ron Bowers and Democrat Bryce Edgmon, who defeated him after a drawn-out primary battle in August and September. Moses declined to comment further before he announces his decision.
If Moses does run, it will add another wrinkle to this year's already bizarre House District 37 race. The veteran legislator tied challenger and former aide Edgmon in the Democratic primary in August, then lost the tie-breaking coin toss held on September 25 in Anchorage.
Edgmon says he's not worried about the write-in campaign, citing the strong support he enjoys in Bristol Bay that helped him unseat the 22-year incumbent Moses in the primary. He says he wasn't necessarily counting on Moses's support in the general election.
Republican candidate Ron Bowers could benefit from Moses's decision if the Unalaska Democrat succeeds in siphoning votes away from Edgmon in the mostly Democratic 37th District. Bowers was traveling Wednesday afternoon and unavailable for comment.
