New CEO Steps in at OC

Thursday, July 05 2012
The Ounalashka Corporation has brought on a new interim leader.
Rick Miller, an accounting and finance consultant, started his term as acting chief executive officer on Monday. According to OC, Miller has previously worked with the corporation on projects such as upgrading its elderly accounting software.
Miller replaces Wendy Svarny-Hawthorne, who served as CEO for nearly a decade. Svarny-Hawthorne began her career with OC in 1991, and worked her way up from a receptionist position to the company’s head as part of OC’s shareholder mentoring program.
The Ounalashka Corporation is a real estate and development company that was created as part of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. It represents approximately 400 Unangan shareholders, and manages over 100,000 acres of land in the Aleutian Islands. According to a statement given by OC last week, the company is currently preparing for leasing opportunities that may come with Arctic drilling and has listed developments of the uplands at Little South America as one of their priorities.
Rick Miller on Monday, July 16 2012:
Rick Miller here. OC's land is private land. OC allows non-shareholders access to its lands for non-destructive use via permit at a nominal cost. One can disagree with OC's policy without falling into tired racially charged rhetoric. How about a little grace friends?
I look forward to working with OC and thank those that have extended their welcome.

I am a taxpayer - and citizen by birth - and yes I own land in the USA and it is unfenced and no I do not charge people to walk across it, I also pay property taxes and pay for my own health care and education unlike most natives. What I don't want to pay for is walking across federal land.
Trust me - if the Japanese had taken over in 1945 or the Russians were still owners of your "land" you would be way worse off .
If your land is not fenced and you don't pay property taxes, it is federal land
Yes - I am the guy who
Who the hell r u? on Monday, July 09 2012:
No you dumbass, YOU or your people do not own any of that, landowners can charge people whatever they want to use their land.

If the OC can charge us fees for "using " their land, e.g. walking, hiking, etc.... Does that mean we can charge all natives for using Safeway, driving on the non OC roads or anywhere they roam that is not part of OC land ???
