Projects on ocean science, energy big at science fair

Unalaska, AK – Dozens of Unalaska students presented in this year's science fair this Saturday.

Bethany Hladick and Bianca Barrera took the grand prize in the high school competition. Their project examined how effective different teeth-whitening kits are. Noah Betzen received first place for a project that looked at how acidity is counter-balanced in shellfish.

On the junior high level, Kanesha Price and Cheyenne Shaishnikoff took the grand prize with their project on water filtration. Christian Escalante and Sierra Moskios won first place with their project on wave energy.

All four winning teams are eligible to compete in the state science fair.
