Raiders face off against defending state champs

Unalaska, AK – The Unalaska Raiders are facing an uphill battle in the Kotzebue Classic.

Despite weather-related travel delays, the boys and girls basketball teams were able to compete against Point Hope yesterday afternoon. In the boys game, the Harpooners beat the Raiders 87-42. The Point Hope Harpooners are the defending 2A state champions, having come in first two years in a row.

The Lady Raiders also played a tough game against the Point Hope girls team. There, the score was 68-20, Harpooners.

This evening, the Raiders will face off against the Kotzebue Huskies. The girls will be playing against the No. 4 ranked team at 5:30, and the boys will be playing at 7.

Locally, both the junior varsity and junior high teams will be playing games this afternoon.
