Summer Bay Lake accident results in minor injuries

Unalaska, AK – This morning, a major accident involving a Ford Explorer pickup truck occurred near Summer Bay Lake.

The accident involved three unidentified area youth, and occurred at approximately 5am as the vehicle was traveling toward Summers Bay Lake on Overland Pass. The individuals only suffered minor injuries, but the vehicle sustained substantial damage.

Sgt. Matt Betzen explains what happened.

"They left the road, flipped, went airborne, flipped, and crashed," says Sgt. Matt Betzen. "They sustained minor injuries at the accident. They walked back, and went back to their separate houses hoping nothing would happen."

The vehicle remains upside-down in the tundra, approximately 120 feet from the roadway.

The accident was reported at 8am by parents of one of the individuals involved, and it is currently under investigation.
