Two-car accident results in injuries, serious damage

Unalaska, AK – A two-car collision occurred Wednesday afternoon on Airport Beach Road, causing injuries and substantial vehicle damage.
The accident involved an SUV and a pickup truck, and it happened just after 5pm near the S-curves. According to eye witnesses, the SUV collided with the pickup truck, and the pickup truck sustained substantial damage to the driver side. Rotsen Pasion of Unalaska was the driver of the SUV. The 20-year-old has been found at fault for causing the accident, and he was arraigned today and charged with driving under the influence, minor in possession, and two charges of assault-3.
Larry Pasion was a passenger in the SUV, and he was ejected from the vehicle, according to the Department of Public Safety. Pasion suffered injuries, and was medevaced off the island as a precaution. Jim Dixon, the driver of the pickup truck, was alone at the time of the accident and also received treatment for injuries.
According to Public Safety director Jamie Sunderland, accidents like this one are unusual, but do occur.
"The public ought to know that people do get hurt in car wrecks out here," says Sunderland. "We do have rollovers every year."
Traffic delay from the accident was minimal.
