Two processors were arraigned on sexual assault charges in Unalaska on Thursday. Diego Mayuyo, 48, and Ismael Balallo, 45, allegedly attacked a woman at a Unisea bunkhouse on Tuesday night.
Both are accused of engaging in unwanted sexual contact with the woman. Balallo is also accused of penetrating the woman without her consent. For that he’s charged with sexual assault in the first degree, which is an unclassified felony, the most serious level of offense.
According to the criminal complaint, the two men followed the alleged victim back to her room from a party. She told police that she repeatedly asked them to leave her alone, and then went into her bathroom. Balallo followed her into the bathroom, where she alleges he pinned her against the wall and groped her genitals.
The woman says Balallo then exited the bathroom and that she returned to her bedroom, mistakenly thinking that the pair had left. She told police that she once again asked the men to leave, and then she lay down in her bed. She alleges that the two refused and that Mayuyo then exposed himself and forced her to touch his genitals while he groped her breasts.
At 3:30 in the morning, five hours after the woman says she left the party, her sister returned to their shared room and told the two men to leave.
Unisea has video footage showing Mayuyo and Balallo entering the room. A sexual assault exam conducted at Iliuliuk Clinic confirmed that the alleged victim had bruise marks across her body and injuries to her genitals.
Neither of the accused has a criminal record in Alaska. Both men are being held at the Unalaska city jail on $50,000 bail. Their next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.
