Unalaska out as Bethel and Dillingham advance to championship

Unalaska, AK – The Unalaska Raiders' solid run in the Region 1 Girls' Volleyball Championships ended this afternoon after the Barrow Whalers came back to beat them in a close five-game match.

After Unalaska won the first two games of the set 25-19 and 25-20, Barrow came from behind to pick up three in a row 25-23, 25-18 and 15-9 to win the match. The Raiders exited the tournament with a 2-2 record, beating Aniak and Kotzebue and losing out to Bethel and Barrow.

Bethel and Dillingham are headed to this afternoon's championship game with two wins apiece under their belts. Bethel has yet to lose a game in the tournament, shutting out both Unalaska and Koliganek in three-game sets. Dillingham beat Nome in three games as well, but faced tougher competition in a 3-2 match against Barrow.
