Unalaska Raiders tough it out against Bethel Warriors

Unalaska, AK – This weekend, the Unalaska Raiders headed to Bethel and Anchorage for three games.

After a travel delay on Thursday, the boys and girls teams made it to Bethel on Friday, where they faced the Warriors that night. The girls team lost that match, with the Warriors coming out on top 59-24. The girls also lost their morning game against Bethel, 65-31.

The boys team fared better. On Friday night, they lost to the Warriors 60 to 72, but they made a comeback the next day, winning 55 to 53. Andrew Seman scored 32 points the first night against Bethel, and then 30 points the next morning. Coach Jim Wilson was pleased with the boys' performance.

"The two Bethel games especially were big games because they were regional conference games. It was our first opportunity to play a regional 3A opponent, and Bethel - to a certain degree - is our nemesis. They've gotten the better of us over the last couple of years," says Wilson. "It was a chance for us to come out and see how we could play against a really good team."

Later that Saturday, the Raiders traveled to Anchorage, where they played Lumen Christi that night. The girls won their game 42 to 6, while the boys team defeated Lumen Christi 42 to 38. The boys have now won 10 of 12 games this season.
