The Unalaska High School wrestling team will be competing in a regional wrestling tournament in Bethel on Friday. Head coach Steve Gregory says Unalaska will be up against teams from 21 other communities.

“I think they’re pretty well prepared and I’m expecting them to do very well."

Gregory says he expects at least half of the team to qualify for the statewide tournament that's taking place next weekend.

“I’ve had some very good wrestlers in the past, some very skilled wrestlers, but there was maybe only two or three of them. These guys, all nine of them are pretty skilled and I would say this is one of the more complete teams I’ve had in a while, so I’m pretty proud of them.”

KUCB will be airing the championship round at 8PM Friday night.
