Student of the Week for November 10-14, 2014
The 5th/6th Grade Department selected Aldrin Tan as Student of the Week for the following reasons:
Aldrin comes into class with a smile on his face and a true desire to learn and excel. If there is an assignment on the board, he immediately starts to work. If the assignment reuires any introductory instructions, Aldrin can be counted on to remain quiet and focused. Although he's as willing as the next student to laugh at something said or done, in the classroom, he never loses sight of his primary mission - dedicated, hardworking student! Congratulations, Aldrin! It's a pleasure to have you as one of my students. - Ms. Anderson, ESL Teacher

On November 11th, the Unalaska Raider volleyball team embarked on a road trip from Anchorage to Soldotna, about a three hour long drive, bound for the 2014 Cook Inlet Academy Invite. The seven teams, including Unalaska, who came to play at the Invite were Wasilla Lake, Holy Rosary, Ninilchik, Birchwood, Lumen Christi and CIA; all of which the Unalaska Raiders previously competed against earlier in the season. During the two days of competition, the Unalaska Raiders went undefeated. The UCSD Lady Raiders beat the Ninilchik Wolverine in the championship and earned the first place trophy.

Unalaska escaped Typhoon Nuri’s high winds, but strong weather patterns swept in some highly unusual birds. We got a number of "casuals" last week: birds rarely seen here and with very few previous records in the Aleutians. We also got a couple of "accidentals" from Asia, including one "mega rarity."
