Eight members from the Unalaska boy and girl high school swim teams traveled to Kenai, Alaska for the Kenai Invitational, the annual swimming and diving competition. Nearly 75 athletes from Homer, Kenai Central, Seward, Soldotna, and Unalaska high schools participated in this year's event October 3rd and 4th.
Each athlete was able to swim in two individual events, two relay events, and no more than three athletes from one team could compete in any one event. Unalaska swimmers competed in 13 out of the 24 events and finished in the top three in five of those events. Head coach, D. Tyrell McGirt, was pleased with the outcome of the meet and especially proud of the three freshmen swimmers, Jonathan Le, Johnny Khongsuk, and Alyssa Tungul, performance at their first ever swim competition outside of Unalaska. Both boy and girl teams from Soldotna High School placed first in the overall swimming and diving competition.

Student of the Week for September 29 - October 3, 2014
The High School Department selected Ross Enlow as student of the week for the following reasons:
- “Ross has really impressed me this year with his energy and laser-like focus in American Literature. It is obvious that he has given a tremendous amount of thought to his academic goals for this school year and is fully committed to putting in the time, effort, and thought necessary to achieving maximum educational results. Not only is he earning top grades- most importantly- he is challenging himself intellectually, and appears to be thriving on that self- imposed challenge. With his recent achievements in cross country, Ross is doing an outstanding job balancing intellectual and physical pursuits in a truly complementary fashion.” – Ms. Rudio, Language Arts teacher
