Sarah Peacock Visits Unalaska

Thursday, September 04 2014

It takes a village, and many people contributed to the Hearts and Hands sponsored concert that rocked Unalaska on Friday, August 29. Nashville’s Sarah Peacock is a rising star whose original country rock songs have been winning national awards and propelling her on a grueling national tour. She visited Unalaska briefly in February and returned this week with Josh Daubin on djembe. Together they performed an assembly for Eagle’s View Elementary School and held workshops for Unalaska’s aspiring musicians.

The Annual Bobby Johnson Summer Bay Classic took place on Saturday, August 23. It was the 20th anniversary of the race and the 6th annual dedication to the late Bobby Johnson. The race consists of a 13.1-mile course, starting at the Community Center parking lot and ending along Front Beach Road. The course offers a unique look at Unalaska island by taking racers up, over, and through the pass. 30 participants (12 bikers and 18 runners) took to the course and all were victorious. Ben Bolock set a new race record this year with a time of 1:27’18. Congratulations to everyone who participated and special thanks to the PCR staff for their hard work.
