City Council-F: Alejandro "Bong" Tungul

Monday, September 21 2015

Alejandro “Bong” Tungul, 56 years old resident of Unalaska for over 36 years. Happily married to Rita Cunanan Tungul with 4 children born and raised in Alaska,  Jason Tungul being the eldest and only son, followed by three beautiful daughters: Felicia, Claudine and Alleri. An active and responsible family man who is very much involved in his children’s school functions and extracurricular activities ranging from fund raising activities to coaching different sports held at the local community center.  Immensely involved and active in community services and development with seven years experienced in the Fire Fighter Association as a volunteer, served on the Grant Committee for 12 months, and one of the founding pioneers of the “Filipino American Bayanihan association.  The very reason why I am pursuing to run for office is to give back to the community the love that I have experienced when I first came to this place that I have called my home.  I want to perpetuate a community rich in camaraderie and goodwill.  To improve our infrastructures and projects that will benefit our local community as well as addressing issues that confronts us in this ever-changing world. To serve and protect our senior residents as well as our children. There is nothing much more rewarding for me than to serve the community that nurtured me and my family through these years.  Please don’t forget to go to the City Hall on Oct. 6 to cast your vote.  Thank you and God Bless.

My name is Frank Kelty and I am running for Unalaska City School Board Seat C; I have lived and worked in Alaska for 45 years.  My wife Nancy and I have been married 33 years and we have one daughter, Joanne, who is a graduate of Unalaska City High School.  We also have three beautiful granddaughters who attend school in Unalaska.

I have many years of experience in city government and have served on a whole host of boards and commissions both locally and statewide; this experience has assisted me during my few months on the School Board and will be a benefit to the board in the future if I am elected.

School Board-A: Tammy Fowler Pound

Monday, September 21 2015

Hello! My name is Tammy Fowler Pound and I am running for Seat A of the Unalaska City School Board of Education.

Along with my husband Jack, I am the proud parent of two young adults, Jackson and Rosie, who attended UCSD from preschool through 12th grade. Mary, our youngest, has also attended UCSD starting with preschool, and recently entered high school this fall. I believe my kids have received an excellent education at UCSD because of the superior quality of staff and teachers, continuous updating of the district’s strategic plan, a mission and vision oriented school board dedicated “To Provide An Exemplary Education”, and a community of strong support.

Previously, I served on the UCSD Board of Education from January 2000 through February 2014, at which time I resigned to go out of state to help care for my terminally ill mother. My past experience includes:
