A life preserver ring of sentimental value was taken from a local bar by several men who identified themselves as USCG personnel and said they were offended by the vulgar drawings that had been marked upon it. An officer learned that the men intended to remove the graffiti and then return the ring to the bar.

Caller reported a backpack containing various Unalaska memorabilia had been stolen this night from the bar. Video surveillance tapes showed the backpack being picked up and worn for about an hour by a man the victim recognized as a crewmate. The victim, who did not wish to press charges, later advised police that he had recovered his property.
