IFHS Receives Donation of Health Care Products

Iliuliuk Family and Health Services, Inc. has received a donation of health care products under a grant from the Henry Schein Cares Global Product Donation Program. Through this program, Henry Schein, Inc., the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health, and medical practitioners, provides several health care product donations valued at $5,000–$25,000 each over the course of two years to Iliuliuk Family and Health Services, Inc.


Christmas Bird Counters Tally Rarities and Regulars

On December 28, 2014 Unalaskans held their annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count.  This was Unalaska's twenty third consecutive count, part of an annual tradition held all across North America, since the year 1900.  Our count day weather was cold and clear, no rain, no snow.  We had sixteen adults and eight kids out and about, mostly along the coastlines, covering around 29 combined miles.  We tallied 50 species on Count Day, and six more species were seen during Count Week, which includes the three days prior to and following a Count Day. (Read More Here)


Holly Holman Named ALASBO School Business Official of the Year

Congratulations to Holly Holman, Business Manager of Unalaska City School District who was named the Alaska School Business Official of the Year at the Alaska Association of School Business Official (ALASBO) December 2014 annual conference in Anchorage.  Candidates for this prestigious award are nominated by their colleagues within the Alaska school business profession.  Annually, a panel of previous recipients selects a deserving individual from the nominees submitted based upon their recognized outstanding service, innovative plan design and implementation, and the use of exemplary business practices within school business management. (Read more of the story here)

Fire Officers initiated a Fire Inspection of a local business.

Damage - Caller reported a possible attempted vehicle theft. A vehicle had inexplicably moved from its parking spot the building where it caused damage to the building. It was determined that the vehicle had issues with its transmission and had rolled into the building.

Caller requested a check on an individual who was arguing with her son. Officers determined that no crimes had been committed and attempted to mediate between the two parties.
