2014 APOA Father's Day Pin Shoot

Friday, June 20 2014

Participants in the Team Event

On Sunday June 15th, 2014, the Alaska Peace Officers Association (APOA), held the 2014 Father’s Day Pin Shoot at the Aleutian Rod and Gun Club (ARGC) range. APOA has been hosting pin shoots for about 15 years. Pin shoots normally occur once or twice a year depending upon the availability of old bowling pins. Luckily, many bowling alleys in the Anchorage area have been generous when it comes to donating worn out pins.

Change in Leadership at Unalaska Community Broadcasting

Matt Lightner at Tundra Golf Classic

After more than 10 years on the UCB Board of Directors, Chris Bobbitt resigned his seat following our June 12th board meeting. Chris has served as both Chair and Vice Chair, and he has volunteered countless hours for our organization. We are sad to see Chris go! Our annual board elections took place on June 12th, and we are pleased to announce that longtime board member Matt Lightner has stepped up from his role as Vice Chair to serve as the Chair of the UCB Board of Directors in the coming year. Vice Chair is now Robi Harris, and Melanie Magnusen retained her seat as Secretary/Treasurer. We have also filled two vacant board seats this month. Brent Bain and Ingrid Martis are our two newest board members and we warmly welcome their participation. The Unalaska Community Broadcasting Board of Directors will next meet on July 8th at 5:30 in the Library Alaskana Room. We will also hold a Community Advisory Board meeting on July 2nd at Noon in the Grand Aleutian's Cape Cheerful Lounge. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend both meetings.

Chris has been instrumental in station improvements over the past 12 years and we can't thank him enough for his service.  As a small gesture of thanks, the UCB Board of Directors passed the following resolution of appreciation:
