The 5/6th Grade Department selected Julieanne Berikoff as Student of the Week for the following reasons:

•  Julieanne Berikoff is truly a joy to have in class!  She is always prepared and is an excellent addition to class.  She is quick to volunteer during group discussions and consistently produces quality work.  I appreciate her enthusiasm, efforts, and example!  Keep working hard!!  -Miss Wood, 6th Grade Teacher


Raiders Host Volleyball Match Against Su-Valley

UCSD Volleyball Team

Over the weekend, the Unalaska Raiders Volleyball team hosted the Su-Valley Rams. 

With the stands packed, the Raiders played very competitive volleyball. Although the Rams beat Unalaska’s JV and Varsity teams both nights, the Raiders were able to take a game from Su-Valley on Saturday night. “We knew going into it that it was going to be a tough match; I am proud of the way they played. I asked them to play scrappy, disciplined volleyball and they did that,” said Coach Julie Heard.


Raiders Host First Local Swim Meet In Over 20 Years

UCSD Swim Team
Unalaska City School hosted its first home swim meets in over 20 years October 25th and 26th.  The Bartlett High School boy and girl swim teams traveled to Unalaska from Anchorage for the dual meet held at the City of Unalaska Department of Parks, Culture, and Recreation Aquatics Center.  The meets on both days were treated as exhibition meets with community members with competitive swimming backgrounds serving as unofficial judges.

Caller reported a found wallet. Dispatch contacted the wallets owner and arranged a meeting between the two parties so that the wallet could be returned.
Traffic Crime
Friday 30 December 2016, 10:49 a.m.
Caller reported a vehicle parked in a handicap space. The vehicle owner was contacted. The vehicle was parked in the space adjacent to the marked handicap space which caused the handicap van to not be able to fit into the spot. The vehicle was moved and the signage was adjusted to assure the adequate space was available to any handicap vehicles.
Fraud
Tuesday 27 December 2016, 12:58 p.m.
Caller reported that her estranged husband had siphoned off over $3000.00 from her account. Investigation continues.
Drunk disturbance
Sunday 25 December 2016, 3:14 a.m.
Officers were flagged down by a taxi driver who was having a dispute with a fare. The fare was upset because he believed the driver was insulting him. The driver just wanted the drunken customer out of her taxi. Both parties went their separate ways.
