Assault

Anthony Espiritu Aro, 28 yoa, was arrested on charges of Burglary I, Assault III, Assault IV and Tampering with Evidence after officers investigated an assault in a local bunkhouse. Multiple witnesses stated that Aro, armed with a knife, attempted to force his way into another man’s bunkroom and then tried to stab the victim multiple times. The victim’s roommates were able to protect him from all but minor injury. Aro, who had fled to another room, claimed he had been jumped by unidentified assailants and had cut himself on a broken bottle.

Officer checked on a man who had called 911 three times but was almost unintelligible. The caller explained he was calling on behalf of his roommate, who had a toothache.

Officers investigated a report that a fishing vessel captain was operating his boat while intoxicated. No signs of alcohol consumption or impairment were discovered.

Caller reported a driver, believed to be intoxicated, had nearly backed into him. An officer located the suspect driver and determined he was not under the influence of any intoxicants.

Caller reported a stumbling drunk on Airport Beach Road. Officers found the man capable of caring for himself but desiring a ride home; a taxi was called to the scene.

Caller reported a loud motorcycle, perhaps near the quarry on Overland Drive, was disturbing the peace. Officers did not locate said vehicle, or any other source of significant noise in that area.

A runner reported having been attacked by a Bald Eagle, apparently one of a nesting pair returning to nest across from the clinic.

Business owner reported that her privately owned and maintained business dumpster was being illegally used by other people. The business owner identified two suspects, whose garbage had been conveniently left labeled with their names. Under investigation.

Complaint about a vehicle parked in such a way as to inhibit access to a processing plant. The driver returned and moved the vehicle before officers arrived.
Assault

Officers investigated a report of an assault, which had allegedly taken place earlier and which had left significant injuries on one of those involved. Officers determined that Theodore Atchak had bitten his wife on the cheek and attempted to strangle her, in addition to threatening her and breaking her phone. Atchak, 29 yoa, of Chevak, was arrested on one count of Assault II-DV, two counts Assault IV-DV and one count Criminal Mischief III-DV.
Liquor Law Violation

Officer warned a man seen drinking canned beer in front the bar that he could be cited for consuming alcohol in public. The man poured out the beer and apologized.
